Interpersonal skills
One of the rewarding aspects of interpersonal skill growth I enjoyed the past several years is team development. Learning how to work with teams and developing a bond with that team takes time and devotion. Throughout my college experience, several classes required that projects were done as a team. In some of the classes, we were able to choose our team and in other classes, teams were chosen for us. Both experiences helped me to continue to develop my leadership skills and team building skills.
In the Project Management class, we were able to choose our teammates and there were three in our team. We had to decide upon a project that we would work on throughout the term and we chose a kitchen remodel. Each of us decided upon sections we wanted to develop. We had to outline the customers need and develop the remodel project that included a price quote, design layout, project manager Gantt charts and remodel schedule along with terms and warranty.
This was a fun project as I went out shopping for the appliances and brought to my team product samples and product brochures so we could decide as a team what product we would quote on. Each of us developed our assigned section and I put the final project together. Our team was called TLP Construction Company. TLP was the first initial of each of our names. Our final assignment for this class was to present the project to the class as if we were the actual construction remodeling company. Between our final class PowerPoint presentation and the final Project Management kitchen remodel, our team received a perfect score on our project.
